Artist, musicians, in general, are inspired by the people around them. When you see people succeed at an art form, success seems easier, it’s easier to grasp the concept of the genre. People who decide to bend the general norms are the ones who stand out the most. That is what makes the difference.

It almost goes without saying that every year, our very own Proshow team is particularly praised for having a knack for showcasing artists from around the country who are famous for being a little out of the box – artists who have made it big without being mainstream. This year around, the people sitting behind the desk decided to bring Lagori – a folk rock fusion band, as guest performers on the fourth day of Revels’17.

Lagori, a Bangalore based band, unlike the general rock bands we are all accustomed to hearing – incorporate a little bit of India to their music. They bring in the fundamentals of Rock music and spice it up by infusing folk music, creating melodies which really get your heads banging, rock fists soaring high up and leave you amazed at the subtle beauty of classical folk.

They’ve really come a long way since they released their first solo album titled ‘Lagori’, back in 2013 and have created a huge name for themselves by setting a certain bar for all the musicians out there, who like to keep coming up with out-of-the-box music. Since the band has been touring across the country and giving stunning performances throughout, it was only a matter of time before the people in Manipal had them perform for Revels! The audience here has always expected some stellar performances from the performing artists, and Lagori is a band that definitely won’t disappoint on that front! We all wait to see the phenomenal five – Tejas Shankar on Vocals, Geeth Vaz on Electric Guitar/Acoustic Guitar/Backing Vocals, Edward Rasquinha on Acoustic Guitar/Backing Vocals, Shalini Mohan on the Bass/Backing Vocals, and finally Vinyl Kumar on Percussions and Backing vocals, as they prepare to the set the MIT Quadrangle on fire.

All said and done, let’s face it – if we would not have the urge to try out new, different stuff, we wouldn’t go past the missionary position, and thank God we did, right?
