Sticking to your roots is, undeniably, one of the greatest virtues. But, talent knows no boundary. If you have what it takes to throw those bold notes of songs of the West, Serenata is for you.
Event 3: SERENATA (Western Vocal solo)
Dates: 22-23 February ’17
Venue: MIT Food Court
Here too, participants will be allotted 2 minutes in the first round of Pre-Revels, and 4 minutes each in the second round of Pre-Revels and in Revels.
RULES:
– Participants per team: Solo + 1 accompanist OR karaoke track
– Karaoke track should be brought in a CD/DVD or a pen drive (mp3 format only) and should be submitted at the time of registration.
– The song must be in English or any other foreign language
– Instruments will have to be arranged by the participants
– Failing to stick to the time limit will lead to deduction of scores.
– In case of any technical fault, timers shall be reset and the participant will be allowed to perform from the beginning.
– The decision of the judges and organizers will be final and binding
EVENT TIME:
· Pre-Revels :
1st Round: 3 hours (2 days) – Pre revels
2nd Round: 2 hours – Pre revels
· Revels : 2 hours
LOGISTICS:
· Two microphones with stands
· Two cordless microphone
· Output speaker system (Left + Right), and Small mixer with Laptop input.
· 1 Monitor
JUDGING CRITERIA:
· Tune
· Rhythm
· Clarity (Diction)
· Modulation
· Expression

Event 4: VIRTUOSO (Instrumental Solo)
Date: 22 February ’17
Venue: Library Auditorium
Participants will be given 5 minutes (including 1 minute setup time) in both Revels and Pre-Revels.
RULES:
– Single entry. No accompanist allowed.
– Any genre of music is allowed.
– Any form of vocals not allowed.
– Drums will be not be provided.
– Loopers in a guitar processor allowed, but the loop should be created during performance only.
– Backing track is allowed.
– Failure in sticking to the time limit will lead to deduction of scores (Utsav Rules)
– In case of any technical fault, timers shall be reset and the participant will be allowed to perform from the beginning.
– The decision of the judges and organizers will be final and binding.
EVENT TIME:
· Pre-revels : 2 hours
· Revels : 1-2 hours
LOGISTICS:
· 3 mics with stands
· One bass amp
· One cordless microphone for emcee
· Mixer with line outs and output speakers (Left + Right).
