With fest fever all around, it is not a rare sight to find more than half the places in campus become practice hubs. The Music And Fine Arts Club brings to you Crescendo, an entirely musical experience – eastern music, Western music, duos, and the likes.
Event 1: ZAMIR (EASTERN VOCALS – SOLO)
Date: 20-21 February, ’17
Venue: MIT Food Court
With traces of westernisation everywhere we go and in everything we do, sticking to our roots is a beautiful thing. If Eastern music and you are made for each other, this is for you. Everything from Bollywood to folk and the likes are welcome!
The participants will have to go through auditions, the first and the second rounds in Pre-Revels, after which they can perform at Revels. They will be given a 2-minute slot in round one, and four minutes in round two and Revels.
RULES:
Participants per team: Solo + 1 accompanist OR karaoke track.
– The karaoke track should be brought in a CD/DVD or a pen drive in .mp3 format only, and should be submitted at the time of registration.
– Only light eastern non-classical song tracks allowed. Folk is allowed.
– No instruments will be provided and have to be arranged by the participants.
– Participant must stick to the time limit. Inability to do so will lead to deduction of scores. (Utsav Rules)
– In case of any technical fault, timers shall be reset and the participant will be allowed to perform from the beginning.
– The decision of the judges and organizers will be Final and binding.
EVENT TIME:
· Pre-Revels :
1st Round: 3 hours (2 days) – Pre revels
2nd Round: 2 hours – Pre revels
· Revels : 2 hours
LOGISTICS:
· Two microphones with stands
· Two cordless microphones
· Output speaker system (Left + Right), and Small mixer with Laptop input.
· 1 Monitor
JUDGING CRITERIA:
· Tune
· Rhythm
· Clarity (Diction)
· Modulation
· Expression
